For security purposes, we divide the living units up, and hold two voluntary, non-denominational church services from 9:00 to 10:00 AM every Sunday morning for the kids and staff at the Richmond Juvenile Detention Center. We preach "Jesus Christ, and Him crucified," in accordance with 1 Corinthians 2:2, using the Bible as our text. The juveniles get to know their assigned volunteer, and eagerly look forward to seeing them each week, and both our kids and our volunteers report that these times of weekly fellowship are richly rewarding. For this reason, we prefer that our volunteers commit to preach every week, or every other week, on a regular schedule. So that the kids do not miss a worship service, we encourage our volunteers to be willing to fill in for one another on a rotating "on-call" basis when a regular volunteer cannot teach, due to vacation or other circumstances. For quality and security reasons, a recommendation from your pastor and a background check are required.
GET INVOLVED - Become a Volunteer!
Bible studies are held every Thursday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, but for purposes of having an intimate and detailed study of God's Word, our Bible studies are held in each individual residential unit. Like our worship services, each Bible study leader is free to choose his or her lesson topic each week, using the Bible as the text. The kids eagerly look forward to these Bible studies, and to seeing their regular volunteer each week. Therefore, we ask our Bible study volunteers commit to teaching every Thursday evening, whenever possible. As with our Worship Leaders, we encourage our Bible study leaders to be on-call to fill in when a regular volunteer cannot teach due to vacation or other circumstances. Again, a recommendation from your pastor and a background check are required.
If you are interested in becoming a regular Cross and Bars Worship Service Leader (preacher) or Bible study leader, please contact Chaplain Craig Eastman for further information.

do the work of an evangelist,
make full proof of thy ministry." II Timothy 4:5
